200HR - Feb 2019
Houston, Texas, USA π
An avid practitioner of many movement modalities including gymnastics, dance, and martial arts, I started following Authentic Movements back in 2017. I attended my first retreat with them in 2018, which affirmed what I already knew – I HAD to learn from this team of incredible teachers. I graduated with my 200hr certification with Authentic Movements in 2019 and am currently working through the virtual 300hr.
Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience
| Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT? | |
| I chose Authentic Movements because they blew what I “knew” of yoga out of the water. I wanted to be able to move like they did and also understand that movement. Their different strengths complement each other in a way that is very holistic to me, and I appreciate the foundation and respect for anatomy, functionality, and logical sequencing. Finally, I appreciate their willingness to take on controversial subjects in the field. | |
| How did the online training platform work for you? | |
| Having done my first training in person, the bubble was great, but I really appreciate the flexibility of the online platform and find it much more accessible to a wide variety of people π | |
| How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT? | |
| I wasn’t a teacher before graduating with AM; my prior yoga experience was in Bikram, so vastly different. | |
| How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training? | |
| I met some of the most incredible people from my retreats and training with AM that I am still in contact and friends with today, years later <3 | |
| What was your favorite part of the course content? | |
| That’s incredibly hard to pick, but I really loved the guest speakers they brought on for the virtual 300hr. Amazing insights. | |
