AM V300 - DEC 2021

St Paul, MN USA 🌎

Hi y’all! My name is Jordyn Templeton, I am a Minnesota native currently living in St. Paul and i’ve been teaching yoga for about two years now! I completed my first 200 hour training in Hot Vinyasa yoga in February of 2020, and spent about 18 months teaching Vinyasa and Hot 26×2 at a hot yoga studio in Fargo. While teaching here I was really able to find some confidence in teaching and learn how to trust my own voice. At the beginning of the pandemic, I started studying with AM by auditing the 200 hour course. I fell in love with the teaching style and sequencing of AM, and then joined the 300 hour training when it became available for the Live training in April. In December of 2021 I turned in my practicum and officially graduated as a 500 hour advanced yoga teacher! I now am focusing on teaching handstands and inversions to beginners, and i’m also working on a new passion project, creating yoga classes for tattoo artists on youtube 🙂

Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience

Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT?
Choosing authentic movements for my YTT was truly a no brainer. After many many years of following Erin, Steph and Bianca I knew for a while I wanted to dive into the world of creative sequencing and inversion training with AM, but the month long intensives were never accessible to me, so when the opportunity for online trainings became available I was so excited to get started! I was really drawn into AM because my first training didn’t show me HOW to teach, and rather just gave me some sequences to memorize. I knew I wanted to learn how to sequence and create my own classes, and knew that AM would be the place to go. I also was really drawn to the inversion aspect of these courses, and learning how to not only do inversions myself but teach them to others.
How did the online training platform work for you?
I loved the online training platform! The combination of live calls to connect with community, but then pre-recorded things to work on in your own time was perfect for me to truly feel like I knew the people I was learning with but wasn’t overwhelmed or rushed. I felt incredibly supported throughout the entire process.
How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT?
My teaching has taken a complete 180 since completing this YTT. I now have the ability to write and create my own fun flows and sequences, rather than just going off what someone else gave me. This has opened so many doors for me, and finally given me the confidence to jump into the world of teaching online on Youtube and Zoom. Before AM, I didn’t feel like I have anything special to offer, and now I understand how to hone my own creativity and create my own things that feel authentic to my voice.
How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training?
One of the best things the AM community brought me is my handstand coach Dia Seskin! We have been working together once a week on zoom since September and have seen insane amounts of progress since I started with her. I also love hopping on BLC’s with other alumni, joining office hours, and i’m super super excited to go and play in the jungle with all the AM family in February!
What was your favorite part of the course content?
The accessibility it brought to my inversion practice! I never understood how to make arm balances work for my body, turns out with AM there is always a way, you just need to set up the right props and creative mimics 🙂
