AM V200 - June 2023

Cranston, RI | USA 🌎

My name is Sandra Medeiros. I am a registered nurse and have a degree in kinesiology as well. I love movement and what it does for my brain and body. This is my first training/certificate of any kind besides BLS and ACLS needed to be a nurse and I couldn’t be happier about that! I’m excited to begin sharing this practice with others as well as dive deeper into my own!

Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience

Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT?
The creativity!!! Enough said 🙂 Erin and Stevi were the first yogis I came across on IG where I was totally floored by the creativity within the flow and how easily their bodies moved through space. I just wanted to move like that. I just love movement and the creative vinyasa styles presented by AM drew me in!!
How did the online training platform work for you?
It worked really well. I actually probably would have never gotten my 200ytt if not for this virtual option. I am not someone who is willing or wanting to leave my family for extended time to be able to participate in a retreat style training and prior to the pandemic this was mostly the way it was being done. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity!!
How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT?
Wow, how hasn’t it changed. I had never taught prior to this teaching and it was apparent when I started. Stumbling and bumbling over my words felt awful and I actually stopped a few times through this training because I felt I couldn’t dedicate enough time to practice as much as I wanted to. But I’m glad I came back to it twice and continued my pursuit until the end because the more I did it, the more I practiced speaking, it really did just come. It flows so much easier now. My problem now is actually I need to take it back some with how much I talk hahaha!!
How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training?
Honestly I really haven’t. I’m pretty introverted, surprisingly, and do feel I missed out on some of the community aspects. My time management was difficult though, trying to coordinate with others since I also did work full time in a hospital during the pandemic.
What was your favorite part of the course content?
Oh man I loved soooo much of it. I really just loved learning the why behind the way. It makes so much more sense and has changed my own practice greatly!!
