ONCE I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOGA, I LEARNED HOW TO FALL IN LOVE WITH MYSELF
My entire life has been full of movement. At a young age I was always singing, dancing and acting. I fell in love with performing and sharing the knowledge that I had with others around me. After many years of competitive dancing I turned my passion into a career. I was blessed with many opportunities in the dance world and I have been teaching/choreographing for twenty years.
Just like so many others, even though I loved my job, my life felt chaotic. The stress was becoming unbearable, although I was unaware of it at the time. Something was missing. Then, in walked yoga. I had taken Yin yoga classes for many years, however, I never really felt a connection with the movement. Then one Saturday I took my first Vinyasa Flow. I had no idea that yoga poses could be so beautiful and strong. This was the missing puzzle piece!
I have learned so much about my mind and body over the past five years, all because of yoga. In June 2019 I traveled to Thailand to immerse myself in the Bryce YTT and received my 200hr RYT. I am honoured to have the opportunity to guide others through their yoga journey. I want to create a community where I can share my experiences and learn from others. I aim to create a judgement free learning space where others can find their own path through yoga. I want to encourage all of my students to explore what’s possible in their bodies and minds.
I can’t wait to be a part of your journey!

Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience
Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT?
I felt like I’ve been in a rut lately and needed a new focus. I initially thought I would do my 300hr with my same teachers as my 200hr, however I wanted to broaden my knowledge. A friend of mine was taking the AM online training, so I dove into your website & socials to find out more. I loved the fresh approach to movement and the wide variety all the teachers brought to the education process. Another bonus was it was affordable!
How did the online training platform work for you?
The online training worked so awesome! I was able to work at my own pace, take breaks when I needed and fit it into my already hectic life!
How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT?
My teaching has changed since the first workshop of the 300hr! I felt encouraged to begin integrating more of myself into my teaching and have been working on not worrying about how everything is supposed to be traditionally. Since completing my final practicum, I’m on the road to being more confident in teaching outside of the box and challenging my students in a fun and accessible way.
How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training?
I have reached out to a few people via Instagram. I have checked in with a friend that I know is taking the training as well to see how their doing. I’ve also continued to take as many BLC as I can with the alumni teachers.
What was your favorite part of the course content?
This is a hard one – I loved so much! All the workshops were great. I loved the addition of the S&C classes. The breath science was very interesting and I loved all the guest lectures. |
