AM V300 - NOV 2021
Frisco, Colorado USA 🌎
I had my first experience with Yoga in 2000 after I had my daughter to help heal some back pain I was experiencing from my delivery. It was Rodney Yee on VHS haha… and it was great:) Yoga was in and out of my life until 2013. I had accumulated a tapestry of injuries from mountain biking, snowboarding, running, skateboarding, all the things, and in 2013 my pain level was crazy and my mobility was severely impaired. I was receiving regular massage (I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2008) but the combo of a dedicated daily yoga practice and regular bodywork helped me find wellness in my body. Straight up Magic! I was in Love with yoga and I completed my first 200hr in 2015 where I was also introduced to Steph & Erin for a Hand Stand workshop at the Studio I was teaching at. I was Immediately hooked and fell in love with these gals! I followed them IG and dreamed about doing one of their programs for years! I completed my 2nd 200hr YTT in 2017 and from 2015-2019 I took workshops with Authentic Movements, received certificates in Yin & Yoga Anatomy. In 2020 the AM Team had a Virtual offering for their 300hr program, the price and timing was perfect for me, and In light of CoVid I couldn’t think of anything that would fill me up more that joining the AM Fam. I love love loved the Virtual 300hr and completed the program in November 2021!
Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience
Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT?
I chose Authentic Movements because I love Inversions, Armbalances and Funky Transitions. But even more than that I chose this YTT because these teachers are Fun, Fresh, and Smart! I am an Orthopedic/Sports Massage Therapist and I didn’t see the level of anatomical and movement understanding that Authentic Movement has, offered in the broader Yoga community. I knew that I wanted my 300hr YTT to be deep and thorough so I chose Authentic Movements because I knew that I get that and more!
How did the online training platform work for you?
I loved the online training platform. It was great to connect with everyone via the lives on weekends. It was also really convenient for me to strike a work life balance while going through the AM program. I think the thing I love most is that even though I’ve completed the program I’m going through it all again. On this second go around I get to really dig into all the material that AM provides in their YTT, and it’s A TON!
How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT?
I feel like my Teaching has changed in that I have found my voice. I know exactly what I want to teach and I feel less intimidated about offering alternative ways for my students to access Yoga postures. I feel like I have so many tools that give me confidence as a teacher.
How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training?
I have engaged with the AM community via Instagram and I hope to connect with everyone at one of the live meet ups soon!
What was your favorite part of the course content?
Oh gosh I loved so much of the program it is hard to nail it down… I loved the workshops so much! I learned a ton from Steph, Erin, Bianca and Anthony. I guess my favorite part of the course content was the access I got to so many different types of movement sciences and modalities within the Yoga framework. Hands down best Yoga Training I’ve taken! |
