Sam Vetrano - Guest Instructor

AM Courses: Virtual 200HR YTT, Virtual 300HR YTT

Sam was introduced to yoga when she was in high school and continued a love affair with different asana and meditation practices through college. Sam first trained in yoga asana on the Jersey Shore and received her 200 hour certification in 2012. Within a year Sam went to India for the first time to attend a second 200 hour teacher training in the Himalayas. Since becoming involved in ashtanga in 2013, Sam has begun to fly periodically to Mysore, India for further study with Saraswathi (Pattabhi Jois’ daughter) at KPJAYI. She does not wish to be authorized but wants to share her love of Ashtanga to all that want to learn. Sam has owned and operated yoga studios in NJ and CO since 2013. In 2018, Sam and Irene Pappas started a non-profit entity, so they could continue to give a percentage of profits back to different organizations including: ACLU, NAACP, Planned Parenthood, and their sister nonprofit organizations in India. Sam uses rough language and isn’t afraid to talk about the forbidden topics; religion, politics, the “isms” and ethics. All will be discussed in her lectures. Sam’s goal is to make yoga asana and philosophy accessible to as many people as possible. Sam has recently taken a pause on retreats & formal certification trainings through Bodhi Yoga Academy while she re-evaluates her participation in cultural appropriation and the ways in which she benefits from white supremacy and capitalism. She continues to teach lectures on colonization, sexual misconduct, ashtanga and other aspects of yoga philosophy and history.

You can find additional offerings from Sam on her website
