Learning to float the feet off the floor can be a challenging transition in any movement practice. This course is designed for those who are interested in working toward a straddle press to handstand and want to better understand and experience the complex components that make up this powerful action. While balancing in free-standing handstand is not necessary to make the most of this course, the ideal participant has an interest in inversions and some experience playing upside down, even with walls or partners.
As the first of many Train & Teach offerings, it is set up to be flexible to you and your needs. For those simply interested in the movement portions of this course, there are 10 TRAIN videos at 60-90 minutes each that build toward the action of straddle pressing. Use props and creative posture mimics to build the connection between brain and body, all while expanding your toolbox of drills.
Whether you’re a movement instructor or just an avid practitioner, we encourage everyone to also watch the 10 TEACH segments (30-60 minutes each). These lectures take a look at the sequence from the corresponding TRAIN session, delve into the WHY behind the WAY, and also touch on the biomechanics and nuance behind the specific components highlighted. Participants can download the class skeleton and anatomy notes to keep and use as desired.
The course is presented in the recommended order, but is non-linear, meaning you can pick and choose what is right for you and skip content as desired. Those who wish to receive a 25HR CET Certificate will need to watch all content and complete the final quiz at the end of the course. Access to the material is granted for a year from the sign up date.
This Course Includes:
10 TRAIN movement sessions – 60-90 minutes
10 TEACH lectures – 30-60 min
10 Class Skeletons with lecture notes
