AM V300 - JAN 2023

Amador County, California | USA 🌎

Hi! I’m Kels. I’m a yoga instructor and movement enthusiast from Amador County, California. Growing up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, I spent my childhood running around the forest with my animals. My practice is highly inspired by my 500 hour training with Authentic Movements, and my explorations in nature. I am dedicated to continued education, not only to enhance my personal practice, but to cultivate more intelligent offerings for my community. With genuine curiosity and approachable silliness, I offer inclusive movement for all folx. Life is short, let’s move together!

Reflecting on the AM YTT Experience

Why did you choose Authentic Movements for your YTT?
Β  I have followed Stevi and Erin on IG for quite some time. In fact, I began taking my yoga journey more seriously because of them. I was (and still am) inspired by their creativity and dedication to their personal practices. Team AM is so incredibly intelligent, fun and curious. It is my greatest honor to have taken a YTT with Authentic Movements.
How did the online training platform work for you?
Β  I was supposed to attend an in person training at Flō in March of 2020… Team AM was so professional and kind during such a trying time. I was incredibly impressed at their ability to pivot and create such a comprehensive training. While I did not get to join the team in the jungle for a month, I instead had the privilege to spend 2 beautiful years completing 500 hours with Authentic Movements. A worthy trade off. Both the v200 and v300 are incredibly well organized and fascinating. Because I took my time, I was able to absorb and integrate all of the incredible information that they deliver. AM teaches and inspires their students to go above and beyond, and they are certainly the best role models as they truly practice what they teach. I also really enjoyed the lessons I learned while holding myself accountable to create a schedule and accomplish my goals. This is something that has carried on in my life, and I am very grateful.
How has your teaching changed since completing the AM YTT?
Β  I began my teaching journey because of AM. Theirs are currently the only certificates I hold, but I plan to earn plenty more in the future! Because of AM, I know that I can bring a fun, intelligent, and unique sequence to any space. I have the confidence to share what I have learned thus far. The confidence I gained from their YTTs is such a beautiful gift.
How have you engaged with the AM community of alums and students during and after the training?
Β  I have had a lot of fun engaging with my AM community on social media! Everyone is so sweet and supportive. I have gotten great advice from many of our AM Fam members. Another great thing is that our AM community members live all over the world! We are a diverse group of folx from all walks of life. I love the Bonus Live Classes as it gives us a chance to connect and move together, no matter what time zone you’re in. BLCs are filled with happiness and camaraderie. Team AM has done a lovely job of facilitating community in an online space.
What was your favorite part of the course content?
Β  I loved SO much the introspections with Mr. Kim. The workshop classes taught by Team AM were so fun, challenging and educational. The guest lecturers opened my mind to so many new things to learn about. The Asana Labs were incredibly informational and as a result I am confident cueing people through funky, creative transitions. And, frankly, the course content really helped me grow as a person. It is wonderfully arranged and curated like a beautiful piece of artwork that always drives the viewer to reflect, absorb and ponder. I am forever grateful for the experience, and forever proud of what I learned about myself during the training. I am also incredibly proud of my teachers for working so hard and staying so dedicated to share their passion with the world. It’s so inspiring. I’ll never forget this time in my life for as long as I live.
